Site settings¶
Site Settings is where you set up who the missionary is, who's allowed to send letters, and what shows on the public page. Changes save automatically as you go — there's no Save button, and a small confirmation appears after each edit.
Missionary details¶
- Honorific — Elder or Sister. This sets the pronouns used on the public page (he/him or she/her). Leave it blank for gender-neutral language.
- Missionary name, mission name, and mission location.
- Bio / description — a short blurb shown under the name on the public page.
- Missionary photo — upload a JPEG, PNG, or GIF (oversized images are resized to 800px automatically), or paste an image URL.
- Mission start date — used for the end-of-mission timeline and the Letter Book.
Incoming mail & replies¶
This section controls how letters get in and where replies go.
- Missionary's direct email — the missionary's personal address. It's used as the Reply-To on broadcasts, so when a subscriber replies, it goes straight to the missionary.
- Reply-To address — by default this is the missionary's direct email. Check Send replies to a different address only if you want replies to go somewhere else (a parent's inbox, say).
- Approved senders (up to 3) — only mail from these addresses to your intake address reaches subscribers. Anyone else gets a polite bounce-back.
- Auto-relay letters from approved senders — when on, letters from approved senders broadcast immediately, skipping the Pending review queue. Leave it off if you'd rather approve each letter first.
Start with auto-relay off
Until you're confident in what the missionary sends, leave auto-relay off and review letters in Letters → Pending. Turn it on once the routine is smooth.
Help Fund My Mission¶
A toggle that adds an opt-in donation link to the public page. When on,
the page shows a link sending visitors to
donations.churchofjesuschrist.org using the missionary's unit number.
- No money flows through Mission Broadcast — it's a direct link to the Church's official donation page.
- You'll need the 6- to 9-digit unit number for the missionary's home ward or branch. Your ward clerk or financial clerk can give it to you (it's also printed at the bottom of paper tithing slips).
- You can customize the button text and the explanation, and optionally include the link at the bottom of every broadcast email.
External links¶
Show a list of links on the public page — a photo album, Instagram, a blog, whatever you want to share. Add as many as you like; leave it empty to hide the section.
Page sections¶
Choose what shows on the public page and in what order. Drag to reorder, or use the up/down arrows, and toggle the eye to hide a section. The header and footer always show — they identify the missionary.
Maintenance mode¶
A safety switch for testing. When on, broadcasts go only to test recipients (up to 3 addresses you specify) — real subscribers receive nothing, and the letter stays in Pending so you can send it for real later.
While maintenance mode is on, a banner appears across every console page so you don't forget it's active.
Turn maintenance mode off before a real broadcast
It's easy to forget. If subscribers report they aren't getting letters, check here first.
Next steps¶
- Set how your broadcasts look in Email design — the greeting, signature, and "Serving From" line use details from this page.
- Once approved senders are set, the missionary can write from the field: What you can do by email.
- Run the whole site at your own web address with a custom domain.
